818 documents the happenings in the Madrid Metro Line 6, on my way to work and back home.

During my daily commute on Line 6, one day I had forgotten my earphones at home and was feeling a bit annoyed that I couldn’t listen to music. However, little by little, I started noticing many things happening around me that I had always ignored. This "accident" gave me the idea to use my phone to document these moments instead of isolating myself in my own world. A change in perspective that led me to realize the fantastic world that is Line 6.

After a few months of purposely “forgetting” my earphones every day, I noticed I had taken over 2,000 images, and there was something going on in this act of photographing the metro. I had always wanted to produce a photo zine but never got around to it — this discovery was the cue to start working on one.

818 initially had many other names, but I chose this one since it was in August 2018 that an idea came to life; an idea that still follows me in all the work I do — to look beyond the obvious.

Eventually, this body of work became a small experimental photo book in visual storytelling, editing, and documentary photography, with a touch of humor.
